On January 1, 2013, Monaghan tragically caused the passing of his 24-day-old daughter, Ruby, at their home in Blackburn.
On August 17, 2013, while alone with his 21-month-old son, Logan, in a changing room at the Waves Water Leisure Centre in Blackburn, Monaghan was involved in circumstances leading to Logan’s untimely death.
On October 24, 2019, Monaghan was connected to the sudden and unexpected loss of his 23-year-old girlfriend, Evie Adams, in Blackburn.
