Why Does God Let You Lose Before You Win?

Judges 20 shows Israel fighting the tribe of Benjamin over evil. God said "Go" but they lost twice - 40,000 men died! Finally, they wept, fasted, and truly sought God. Then they won. Sometimes God allows initial defeats to drive you to deeper dependence on Him.
