Poor idol maker and magic money Radha Krishna
Mathura was a small village near Vrindavan. Where everyone lived happily. Most of the people of the village were farmers. Some cowherds also lived inside the village. All the cowherds mostly kept buffaloes. Only a couple of cowherds had a cow in the village. Everyone was busy with his work. A poor sculptor lived in the same village. His name was Shyama, he used to make very beautiful idols but no one in the village used to buy his idols. His wife was lame in one leg and they also had two children. Wife's name was Kalavati, elder son's name was Sonu and younger son's name was Kanhaiya. He was a great devotee of the poor sculptor Lord Kanhaiya and often used to make his idols. But that sculptor was not always poor. Many years ago, all the people used to buy his idols and his expenses used to run on water, but with the passage of time his business water slowed down and money problem started in the house. One day in the evening, the idolater reaches his house and shouts from outside the house, "Kalavati o Kalavati! Just come out and keep these things inside." On hearing her husband's voice, Kalavati immediately comes out with the help of a stick and, being disappointed seeing all the idols in the basket, asks her husband, "Have you brought back all the idols even today?" Then the sculptor Shyama says, "What should I do now Kalavati? Not a single person in the village buys idols." Then Kalavati says in a slightly loud voice, "Why would anyone buy your idols? You have been making the same idols for years, the same Radha Krishna idols... Sometime make new age idols! Times are changing." On hearing this Shyama gets annoyed and says, "Look Kalavati! Whatever you tell me, don't say anything to my Radha Krishna!" On hearing this, Kalavati goes inside with her mouth wide open and stands in front of the Radha Krishna idol kept inside the house and says, "I have heard that you listen to everyone, then why don't you listen to us? For how many years my husband has been worshiping you. And what did she get in return? The same poverty, daily troubles...." Whenever Kalavati became sad or upset, Radha used to murmur in front of the idol of Krishna. Her maternal uncle was in Mathura and she was also a devotee of Lord Radha Krishna since childhood but over time due to poverty she lost her trust in God. After a while it becomes night. Kalavati and her two children fall asleep. But Shyama was still awake and he was remembering his days when his idols were very famous in the whole village. People from other villages also used to come to buy his idols. His eldest son Sonu had turned 2 years old and Kalavati was pregnant. Suddenly one night Kalavati has severe pain in her stomach and she starts crying. Shyama immediately wakes up and says to Kalavati, "What happened, why are you crying so much?" Then Kalavati, groaning in pain, says, "There is a severe pain in the stomach, it seems that the child is about to be born, you should go quickly and call the old kaki!" Shyama immediately runs towards old Kaki's house with an umbrella. It was raining heavily that night and the clouds were roaring. Just as Shyama reaches the old Kaki's house and starts to open the latch on the door, "Kaki O Kaki! Open the door quickly! Kalavati is having severe pain in her stomach." On hearing this, the old Kaki immediately opens the door and after that the old Kaki along with Shyama walks towards her house. Old Kaki takes care of Kalavati all night and the same night Kalavati gives birth to a boy. Shyama names his second son as Kanhaiya because he had great faith in Lord Kanhaiya. Gradually time passed and both his sons started growing up. But the business of selling idols slowed down and after a few years poverty knocked in the house. Shyama falls asleep thinking this. The next morning, Shyama gets ready and picks up her basket of idols and leaves the market to sell the idols. "Take the idols! The idols are beautiful beautiful idols of Lord Radha Krishna...." On the way a cowherd says to Shyama, "Hey Shyama Bhaiya! Janmashtami is coming a few days later and this time I will do a huge puja on Janmashtami. I am about to do this and I have to buy some nice idols of Radha Krishna." Then Shyama says, "Absolutely milk man! Although I have made many Radha-Krishna idols, I will make more beautiful idols for you." After this Shyama reaches the market. In a short time 3-4 of his idols are sold. And he says thanking Kanhaiya, "I have full faith in my Kanha, he will never let me go to bed hungry." In the evening Shyama comes back to his house. And happily says to his wife Kalavati, "I had said that Krishna Kanhaiya would never make us go hungry. Today 3-4 idols were also sold and a cowherd has asked to make some new idols, it seems because of our poverty.
