Illegal Immigration and ICE, why are you a target? Help others by helping yourself.

Honest question because I'm past my knowledge point, why aren't illegal aliens working harder to be citizens? If you came here as a child 20 years ago, why haven't you gotten citizenship? Could it be the DUI charges, or the drug possession, or criminal elements you've gotten yourself in? What is holding you back and why do we prop up criminals?
