Fowlerville, MI - A man is in custody after leading police on a wild multi-county chase last week that included the suspect driving the wrong way on the interstate.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office says it all began around noon on Monday, Oct. 6 when deputies got word from Bath Township police that they were chasing a man suspected of domestic violence.

Authorities say the man was reported to be armed with a handgun.

The sheriff’s office on Friday shared dash camera footage of the chase on I-96, showing the man speeding away in a silver Ford hatchback. At some point during the pursuit, the driver abruptly crossed over the median in a turnaround and began driving the wrong way.

As he was headed west in the eastbound lanes approaching Fowlerville, video shows traffic parting to either side of the freeway. He drove through the grass, and the deputy eventually used a pit maneuver to bring the car to a stop.

As police converged, the man got out of the car and began walking towards the Mobil gas station next to Bob Maxey Ford. Police eventually used a taser on the man, who fell to the ground.

While the sheriff’s office said Friday he was taken into custody, authorities have not released his name, and it’s not clear what charges he is facing.
