Mass Protest in Peru Leaves One Dead and Over 100 Injured

One protester was killed and more than 100 people were injured during a massive demonstration in Lima, Peru against the Peruvian government and Congress, according to the Office of the Ombudsman. The march, led by members of “Generation Z” along with various social groups and labor unions, moved toward Congress to protest against the legislature and the new president, José Jerí, who took office after the removal of Dina Boluarte. The protest, which was echoed in several cities across the country, was the largest in recent years.
