An HS code, or Harmonized System code, is an internationally standardized numerical system for classifying traded products. Developed by the World Customs Organization (WCO), it is used by customs authorities worldwide to identify goods, apply tariffs and taxes, and gather trade statistics. The first six digits of an HS code are universal, while some countries add more digits for national classification purposes.
