Hundreds Rescued After Snowstorm Traps Nearly 1,000 Trekkers on Mount Everest | Firstpost Live| N18G

A powerful snowstorm in the Himalayas left nearly a thousand trekkers stranded near Mount Everest over the weekend. Heavy snowfall hit the eastern slopes in Tibet’s Karma Valley, a popular route during China’s National Day holiday. As of Sunday, more than 350 people had reached safety, while hundreds more were still being guided down the mountain. Rescue teams and local villagers worked to clear snow and reopen blocked paths. Authorities have suspended entry to the Everest scenic area, as nearby Nepal also reported deadly landslides and floods triggered by the same extreme weather.
