Sept. 2, Lure released The Redfish, a new 6 x 52 toro made entirely of Nicaraguan tobaccos: a corojo oscuro wrapper over a binder from Ometepe and fillers from Estelí, Jalapa and Ometepe. Interestingly, a press release says that the filler tobaccos are the same as The Lumineer, a new release from Valacari that began shipping in July. Production is handled by La Tabacaria Cigars in Estelí.

Each cigar has an MSRP of $15 and production is limited to 250 bundles of 10 cigars.

“When I approached Nimmer (Ahmad, founder of Valacari) with the idea of making a cigar to honor my late father, he gladly offered his help and was patient and supportive as the brand gained traction over the next year,” said Lou Cross III, founder of Lure, in a press release. “Nearing the second year of offering cigars under the Lure Cigars brand, we have leaned more on each other’s core competencies and focused on our strengths. We felt it was the perfect time to combine some of the best offerings from both companies and create a cigar that showcased the signatures of both brands. The name The Redfish is a nod to the color of the wrapper leaf and a popular sportfish to catch.”
