Qatar’s emir accuses Israel of trying to derail Gaza truce talks

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani condemned Israel’s September 9 strike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha as a “treacherous attack” and “state terrorism” during his U.N. General Assembly speech.

He criticized the bombing, which killed six people, as a political assassination carried out in a residential area with schools and diplomatic missions, undermining ongoing ceasefire efforts.

Sheikh Tamim accused Israel of treating negotiations as “a continuation of war” and of seeking to make Gaza “unlivable,” framing Israel as a rogue state engaged in genocide.

He also denounced Israel’s labeling of critics as “antisemitic or terrorists” and likened the global solidarity movement for Gaza to the anti-apartheid movement of the 20th century, Al-Jazeera has reported.

The emir emphasized that Israel’s actions complicate diplomatic cooperation and violate basic standards of negotiation.
