Jesus’ ‘Battle Rejoined’ on the Cross and the Myth Culture’s Victory – Mark 15:15–41

n this brief excerpt from the course, Jesus and Myth, Dr. Barber discusses how Jesus engages in His unique 'Battle Rejoined' on the Cross after His unique 'Victory' at the false trial.

On the Cross, Jesus literally fulfills ancient prophecies – Psalm 22 in particular – as He suffers and dies to atone for the sins of Israel, and the sins of the whole world.

Israel’s leaders and all the myth-culture, at the same time, engage in their Victory motif, mocking Jesus – mocking their God and King – as He suffers for them.

Jesus continues uniquely to subvert and invert the pattern of myth-culture in which all of the rest of us walk. We walk in the mythological way of sinners, Jesus alone in the way of divine truth and perfection.

Are you seeking myth’s victory over Jesus, walking in myth’s pattern of Satiation? Or are you faithfully trusting in Jesus' 'battle' for you on the Cross, where He Dispersed and Displayed your salvation, should you receive it by faith alone today?
