Burning Bridges

On the evening of October 17, 1989, my close friend Pam Meyer (Pam Meyer @ FaceBook) and I were dancing ‘the hustle’ at Poor Peter’s Disco in Farmingdale, N.Y. when D.J. Johnny Fever (John Landa @ FaceBook) stopped the music to announce a major earthquake during the 49er’s football game. Or was that the World Series?? He flashed the news casts across big screen TVs. Then Johnny put on ‘Disco Inferno’ by the Trammps. Pam and I went right on dancing while the rest of the Disco watched Oakland CA fall apart. Later, before falling to sleep I wrote this song. The lyrics have nothing to do with earthquakes and had no bearing on the relationship Pam and I had and still enjoy. But that’s the story of Burning Bridges.
