Rep. Scott doesn't want to know who Epstein's client were! - September 2, 2025

(September 2, 2025) This is a 3-minute excerpt from a hearing before the Rules Committee on Rep. #ThomasMassie's (R-KY) discharge petition for his bill, "The Epstein Files Transparency Act (#EFTA), which is to compel the Justice Department (#DOJ) to publicly release all files related to the #JeffreyEpstein case. The move was intended to bypass the Republican House leadership which also includes Rep. #JamesComer (R-KY), which Massie and co-sponsor Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) accused of trying to block and/or dilute his effort. It would require 218 signatures to force a floor vote, which would then have to be passed by the Senate and then signed into law by #PresidentTrump. Massie's petition was filed shortly after the House Speaker #MikeJohnson (R-LA) scheduled a vote on a separate measure that would direct the Oversight Committee (chaired by James Comer) to continue its investigation into the matter, which Tom Massie called a "meaningless vote". Then Speaker Johnson recessed Congress for a 5-week Summer vacation before a vote could be taken on Massie's bill. Then 5 weeks later when Congress officially reconvened, a group of 6 Epstein survivors and their lawyers met privately with Massie and Khanna before they attended a hearing before the Rules Committee to debate Massie's resolution (on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.) Comer told Rep. #JamesScott (R-GA): "The victims have been reporting these crimes since 1992." Jeffrey Epstein was first arrested in July 2006 in Palm Beach, Florida, on state charges of soliciting prostitution. This initial case ended in a controversial 2008 plea deal made by #AlexAcosta, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida in 2008 (who later became President Trump's Secretary of Labor during Trump's first term as POTUS. Acosta resigned in July 2019 after his name came up during the controversy. Trump stood by him. Acosta had said the deal was made because he was told he had connections to the CIA. The deal allowed Epstein to serve a short jail sentence while avoiding more serious federal charges. Epstein served 13 months, largely under a work-release program that allowed him to leave the jail during the day. This initial arrest and the subsequent lenient plea deal were central to the outrage that led to his second arrest on federal charges in July 9, 2019 during Trump's second term. A month later Epstein was found dead in his jail cell in the infamous Manhattan New York Southern District on August 10. This drove mass speculation and renew interest in the Epstein case, because most people think he was murdered to cover-up for his wealthy and powerful clients. Almost a year later Epstein's girlfriend #GhislaineMaxwell was arrested and charged in July 2020 with the crimes of enticing minors and the sex trafficking of underage girls, related to her association with Epstein as his recruiter. Because she was a socialite with means who frequently traveled, she was denied bail as a flight risk. She was convicted on one count of sex trafficking of a minor in December 2021 [QUESTION: Who did she traffick to?] The judge in her case sealed the court files, causing even MORE speculation. After Joe Biden took office in 2021, in 2022 Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison. In 2025 (during Trump's second term) she met with President Trump's Assistant U.S. Attorney General #ToddBlache for an interview at her prison, and he later had her transferred to a nicer prison after she exonerated #DonaldTrump. Blanche never mentioned whether he asked Maxwell who these wealthy and powerful clients were that she and Epstein had "trafficked" to. Democrats want to know why she was moved to a nicer prison. But then again, Democrats want anything and everything that can make Trump look bad and distract from all his accomplishments. That's a given, we understand that. But what are Republicans like Massie looking for and why are other other Republicans like Mike Johnson stone-walling him and what does Rep. James Comer hope to find and why doesn't Rep. James Austin Scott care who the perpetrators are? (FYI: When Rep.Scott mentioned "aviation files", he probably meant the pilot's flight logs for Epstein's private jet.) The victims were scheduled to hold a press conference the following day (today) on September 3, 2025. Updates later.
