A Decade on YouTube: Watching the Liars Call Themselves Truth-Tellers.

Over the last ten years of my time on YouTube, I’ve had a front row seat to one of the strangest contradictions you’ll ever come across: the people who scream the loudest about being “champions of truth” are often the biggest liars themselves.
Time and again, I’ve seen individuals build their channels and reputations on the claim that they’re exposing “wrong’uns” and “frauds,” when in reality they’re guilty of the very behaviour they condemn. They point the finger, while hiding the fact that their own hands are dirty. They set themselves up as moral authorities, but behind the scenes they peddle lies, twist narratives, and spread misinformation without shame.
The most frustrating part isn’t even their hypocrisy—I’ve grown used to that. What really gets under my skin is watching good, honest people in their audiences fall for it. These so-called “truth warriors” know how to dress up lies with a bit of confidence, a bit of smug delivery, and a lot of repetition. And once repeated often enough, those lies take root.
It’s like watching a pantomime where the villain convinces half the crowd he’s the hero, while booing at the actual hero for daring to stand his ground. It would be laughable, if it wasn’t so damaging.
That’s the paradox of YouTube I’ve come to know all too well: liars calling themselves truth-tellers, misinformation being dressed up as fact, and wrong’uns pretending to be righteous. And yet, despite the frustration, I stay the course. Because someone has to stand up and say, “No, you’re not the truth. You’re just another lie with a microphone.”
