PM Modi to Visit China for SCO Summit, a First Since Galwan Valley Clash | Vantage with Palki Sharma

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, from August 31 to September 1. In his first visit to China after the 2020 Galwan Valley clash, PM Modi is also expected to hold bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the summit. The visit comes amid rising tensions with the US over trade tariffs and purchase of Russian oil. The two leaders met last in October 2024, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Russia. This led to disengagement of troops along the Indo-China Line of Actual Control (LAC).
