Summer railfanning across the Long Island Railroad! Featuring the Cannonball & M3's
Recorded August 2025. Just like last year, my Dad and I made another trip out to Long Island to catch the Cannonball summer special! The Cannonball is a special summer train that only operates on Fridays from Memorial Day - Labor Day weekends. This train departs out of New York's Pennsylvania Station at 4:07 PM on Fridays and does not make it's first stop until the Hamptons. Lately I try to catch this train as much as I can even though I live far out. But it's worth it every time! Similar to last year, we made stops along the Ronkonkoma Branch and Montauk Branch. However, this time we went to Pinelawn for our Ronkonkoma Branch stop to try to catch some trains passing through at 80 MPH. Then we went to Babylon Station to catch the Cannonball which is also where the Babylon Branch ends. We get quite a bit of action at both stations and we met a few other railfan along the way! Stay tuned for another awesome action packed video!
