This morning, the spokesperson of the Iranian judiciary officially confirmed that at least 75 prisoners escaped from Evin Prison in northern Tehran, after it was attacked last month, as part of the "Rising Lion" operation.

The confirmation comes exactly one month after the notorious prison's entrance gate was attacked, and after persistent denials in Iran that prisoners had managed to escape.

As a reminder, the prison serves as the main detention facility for Iran's internal security forces, and its cells are usually full of regime opponents or those the regime has decided oppose it.
Among others, journalists, clergy, anti-regime activists, foreign citizens, and more have been imprisoned there.

According to testimonies from a few who survived their imprisonment there and still had the courage to reveal what happens inside - the Basij internal security personnel and Revolutionary Guards investigators tortured prisoners for hours on end, trying to extract any piece of information that would prove the "depth of their betrayal of the regime."
