Episode 988: What was the blasphemy of the Jews in the church at Smyrna? Part 1

Hello everyone. In tonight's Bible we continue our study on the Church at Smyrna in Revelation 2.

In reading the letter written by our Lord to the church at Smyrna we discover some very interesting things. First that Jesus is God and has authority over who lives or dies.

Second that the belivers at Smyrna were faithful during persecutions, tribulations, and trials.

Third that the Smyrna believers were poor due to threat of being imprisoned or murdered, without employment or the ability to meet their family needs. Yet God declared that they were rich with God's riches.

Wow, they were rich indeed. However there were some amongst them who were not believers at all even though they pretended to be. They were Jews who blasphemed the name of the Lord.

Jews? Yes! Blaspheming the name of the God of Israel? Yes!

Why in the world would a Jew do such a thing? According to God this type of Jew is not a Jew who worships Him. They had a problem with blasphemy.

What is that and how did these Jews blaspheme the name of the Holy One of Israel?
