Silverline Tuesday: The single issue story...

...is the toughest thing in comics to write. When writing a series, one has the safety that says if any singular issue is weak, others will be strong and in the end, taken as a whole, you can save the series. So whether writing two or six issues, multiple issue tales afford you that safety net. Not so a single issue, wherein one has to come in, identify characters, set up the challenge to them, then solved it, all within a standard 22 to 24 page comic. And if you fail to get it right, proper balance and pacing, it's easy to crash and burn.
