Climbing perch can live without water for up to six to ten days in moist conditions, allowing them to move across land to find new water sources or escape predators.
The fish's behavior of jumping out of the water is an innate reflex, likely triggered by environmental conditions such as low oxygen levels in the water or the need to find a new habitat.
This species is considered invasive in some regions, such as Queensland, Australia, due to its ability to survive and spread in various ecological conditions, posing a threat to native fish populations.
The climbing perch's resilience and adaptive strategies are particularly relevant in the context of habitat degradation and climate change, highlighting its survival mechanisms.
