Fresno, CA - The Fresno Police Department has released the body cam footage from when a sergeant shot at a man who drove into his ex-girlfriend’s and her three-year-old’s car last month. Police said the man also shot at the window of the car.

On May 7, officers received a 911 call at around 2:30 p.m. on First Street and Shields Avenue regarding a woman driving with her three-year-old while her ex-boyfriend was ramming her car.

Police identified the ex-boyfriend as 31-year-old Martin Campos. The victim got onto southbound Highway 41 as the man was still driving into her. The victim exited through Jensen Avenue.

When she was exiting, a sergeant recognized both vehicles from the description that was provided. The sergeant turned his lights and sirens and got behind him, but Campos kept driving until the victim stopped in the area of Elm and Jensen avenues. When they were stopped, that’s when police said Campos started shooting at the victim’s car.

In the video, the sergeant can be seen following Campos’ car until the area of Elm and Jensen avenues.

Campos is seen driving off, and that’s when the sergeant chases after him. Campos then crashed into another car. The sergeant continues to chase the car as Campos tries to escape, that’s when the sergeant fired his gun.

Campos surrendered after the sergeant shot at him. In the video, a detective arrived and told Campos to get out of the car, after a bit of time he exited his car. He was not struck by any gunfire and was taken into custody.

Campos’ ex-girlfriend and her three-year-old toddler were uninjured.
