This is a time-lapse version of the full ride, combining real-time and accelerated footage to offer a fresh perspective on the route and landscape.

🚴 A winter afternoon gravel cycling ride, making the most of a calm, sunny break between storms 🌤️. This journey travels north from Raumati South via the Kāpiti Shared Way, passing rivers, streams, and regional landmarks en route to Ōtaki.

The highlight of the ride is a newly formed mini loop made possible by the addition of the Ōtaki River Bridge shared path clip-on, opened in March 2025. Riders can now cross into town on the original highway bridge and return via the Kāpiti Expressway Bridge—an elegant, scenic diversion that brings interest to an otherwise linear route 🌉.

Passing by both Ōtaki Gateway Sculptures, the trail captures a variety of local features including wetlands and estuarine rivers. With temperatures dipping to 5ºC by sunset 🌇, the ride was moderately fast-paced to stay warm—capped off with golden-hour light and a peaceful return journey ✨.
