The beginnings of grindcore are often pinpointed to Napalm Death's 1987 masterpiece Scum and the early work of Carcass, but the 1989 release World Downfall by the overlooked outfit Terrorizer is often talked about in revered tones by extreme metallists worldwide.

Featuring members David Vincent (bass, vocals), Pete Sandoval (drums), Jesse Pintado (guitar), and Oscar Garcia (vocals), Terrorizer's lone album has spawned countless imitators over the years, due to its groundbreaking merger of both speed and aggression.

Produced by renowned thrash/death metal producer Scott Burns, all you have to do is check out some of the song titles to know what type of a hellacious musical ride that'll soon be in store -- "Fear of Napalm," "Strategic Warheads," "Enslaved by Propaganda," "Dead Shall Rise," and the like. After breaking up, all of Terrorizer's members appeared in other outfits -- Vincent with the Genitorturers, Sandoval with Morbid Angel, Pintado with Napalm Death, and Garcia with Nausea.

The group released their inaugural album, World Downfall, in 1989. It is seen as one of the classics of early grindcore. An album containing two rehearsal sessions of the band from 1987 was released in 2003.

In early 2005 it was rumored that Terrorizer were to reform with their original line-up, however of the original line up, only Jesse Pintado and Pete Sandoval agreed to be on the long-awaited second studio album, Darker Days Ahead, released in August 2006, on Century Media Records. They recruited Tony Norman of Morbid Angel for guitars and bass and veteran grind/punk/metal vocalist Anthony Rezhawk. Pintado had been recording and playing shows with Rezhawk's band Resistant Culture and asked him to join Terrorizer. In the week of its release Pintado died due to complications arising from liver failure.

In 2009, Terrorizer released a new demo track, "Hordes of Zombies", on its MySpace page. In June 2011, Terrorizer signed to Season of Mist, and released its third album, Hordes of Zombies, on February 28, 2012.Resistant Culture guitarist Katina Culture replaced Pintado and David Vincent rejoined on bass.

In November 2012, drummer Pete Sandoval announced that Terrorizer has begun writing new material for their fourth studio album. In 2018 They released their new album "Caustic Attack" which is pretty good for what it is.... not too bad at all.
