Summary of potential DOGE cuts
https://x.com/i/grok/share/ICKOfnUQDsfGwyyCfyGgJJSAy
"Military Construction and Family Housing shows a reduction compared to the previous year. According to the Congressional Budget Office, funding for infrastructure, which includes military construction and family housing, is set to decrease by $1.6 billion, or 8.1%, in real terms for 2025 compared to 2024 appropriations. This cut is part of a broader $849.8 billion DoD budget request, which is $15 billion (1.7%) less than the 2024 budget, excluding supplemental appropriations.
However, specific allocations within the infrastructure category vary. For example, the Army’s 2025 budget request includes $3.9 billion for military construction across 45 projects, with a significant focus on barracks restoration and sustainment ($2.4 billion, a 325% increase over the prior year). Family housing initiatives also see targeted investments, such as $2 billion across the DoD for construction, maintenance, and upgrades to address issues like mold and pests in military housing. Despite these efforts, the overall infrastructure budget is down, reflecting trade-offs within the DoD’s priorities, such as increased funding for operations and support (+0.7%) and cuts to acquisition (-5.2%).
For now, the data points to a modest but notable reduction in Military Construction and Family Housing funding for 2025, though certain quality-of-life programs, like housing remediation, remain prioritized within the constrained budget."
