David Beckham has officially been knighted — and it’s been a long road to get here.

Victoria Beckham paid an emotional tribute to her husband, calling him her “knight in shining armour” after the former England captain was finally honoured in King Charles’ Birthday Honours list.

Beckham, 50, has long been in the running but was reportedly blocked in 2014 over a tax dispute and controversial leaked emails. That’s now behind him as he’s knighted for his services to sport and charity — including decades of work with Unicef and Malaria No More.

He joins the 2024 King's Honours list alongside other British icons and community leaders. The recognition follows his heartfelt legacy as one of England’s most celebrated athletes and global ambassadors.
