Pacific414 Pop Talk Watch Party of Mel Brooks 1974 Comedy Classic: Blazing Saddles

Welcome one and all to the Pacific414 Pop Talk watch party for June 11,2025!

Our watch party for tonight is the Mel Brooks American western comedy classic, Blazing Saddles!

Blazing Saddles was released by Warner Brothers Pictures on February 7, 1974.

Mel Brooks directed the film and Co-wrote the film alongside Norman Steinberg and Andrew Bergman about a corrupt politician, Governor William J. Le Petomane played by Mel Brooks who appoints Bart played by Cleavon Little as the new town sheriff.

Along the way, we meet Jim the Waco Kid, played by Gene Wilder, who is an alcoholic gunslinger who allies with Bart to fend off the town from the plans of Hedley Lamarr, played by Harvey Korman to force Rock Ridge's residents out of the town and sends a gang of thugs, led by his flunky Taggart, played by Slim Pickens to trash the town.

Blazing Saddles received critical acclaim from both critics and audiences alike when it was originally released and is a regarded as a timeless satirical classic.
