Modern Politics: A Race to the Bottom

What happened to common sense?

I don’t know when it disappeared, but it’s gone.

Somehow, the extremes one on both political sides of the spectrum.

How?

Why?

It should be possible to be pro-trans, and anti-Lily Tino.

It should be possible to be fiscally conservative, and not MAGA.

But in today’s world of purity tests, you’re either 100%, or you’re cast out.

Well, maybe.

I think (hope) things are changing. 

The Democrats seem to be moving (slowly) back towards reality.

Pete Buttigieg has always been an intellectual powerhouse, and he took the step of removing his pronouns from Twitter.

(So did AOC.)

Gavin Newsom is now saying biological boys shouldn’t compete in girls sports.

If the left can shy away from identity politics, maybe they have a shot. 

As far as the Republican Party?

I have no idea what they can do to get back to the common sense era of John McCain, and George Herbert Walker Bush.

Newt Gingrich turned them into a party of hate, and they fully embraced it.
