A car was overturned and tear gas was fired in Clermont-Ferrand, central France, on December 6 as hundreds of students and some “yellow vest” protesters marched through the city. A police car was attacked, surveillance cameras were ripped from their mountings, and garbage fires were reported in the city, France 3 said. The student demonstrations, against reforms to the baccalaureat, France’s version of the high school diploma, have come in the wake of a broader protest movement sparked by a proposed fuel tax hike.
