Trump Reaffirms He Won’t Lift Tariffs on China: “Their Economy Is Collapsing — They’ll Come to Us”
In a recent and forceful interview, President Donald J. Trump once again proved why he is regarded as one of the most strategic leaders in foreign and economic policy. Speaking with clarity and resolve, Trump confirmed that he will not remove the tariffs imposed on China — at least not until the United States holds all the leverage at the negotiating table.
“Why would I do that? Would I lower them? At some point I will, because otherwise you could never do business with them. But right now, no.”
The message was unmistakable: tariffs are not a weakness — they are a tool of strength. Under Trump’s leadership, the United States refuses to bow to a foreign power that has, for years, exploited the West’s open markets to enrich itself — at the expense of American jobs, factories, and intellectual property.
“They are very eager to do business. Look, their economy is really going bad. Their economy is collapsing.”
These aren’t just words. Since Trump’s return to the White House, markets have once again prioritized fair trade, not just free trade. The President made it clear that the goal is not to punish China for the sake of punishment, but to protect American working families, restore domestic industry, and force Beijing to follow clear, reciprocal, and enforceable rules.
Democrats have long shown weakness toward China. Meanwhile, Trump holds the hard line that revived American manufacturing, brought factories back to the heartland, and reasserted the nation’s economic independence.
The interview also revealed the mindset of a leader who understands that economic pressure is a core diplomatic strategy. China isn’t coming to the negotiating table out of goodwill — they’re coming because they have no choice. And Trump knows it. One of his most striking remarks made that crystal clear:
“If you don’t keep the pressure, they don’t come to the table. And believe me, they are desperate to be at the table.”
With China’s economy faltering, capital fleeing the country, record youth unemployment, and growing global distrust after years of aggression, the international stage has changed. And once again, Trump is reading the moment with pinpoint accuracy.
In short: the tariffs stay. Not out of spite — but out of strategy. Because a strong EE.UU. doesn’t beg for deals — it secures them from a position of strength and national pride.
