Episode 3034: He Descended into Hell and Rose Into Heaven - Morning Episode
"He Descended into Hell: The Silence and Triumph of Holy Saturday"
Introductory Prayer
"In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen."
"O Lord Jesus Christ, crucified for our sins and now resting in the silence of the tomb, give us grace to ponder Thy sacred Passion and glorious descent among the dead. May we join the holy souls in longing for Thy light. As we await the dawn of Thy Resurrection, purify us through Thy mercy and strengthen us by Thy victory. Amen."
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
O Lord Jesus Christ, on this Holy Saturday, we pause in sacred stillness between the agony of Your Cross and the glory of Your Resurrection. In the silence of the tomb, we turn to You, who descended into hell to shatter the gates of death and bring liberty to the captives. Enlighten our minds with the truths revealed to Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, strengthen our hearts to persevere with Our Lady in this vigil of sorrow and hope, and prepare us to rejoice anew in the triumph of Easter.
O Mary, Virgin Most Faithful, keep us company this day as we mourn, meditate, and marvel at the hidden glory of your Son’s descent into the depths.
Amen.
Segment One: “The Luminous Descent”
Welcome, dear friends in Christ, to our Holy Saturday meditation a sacred pause between Good Friday’s sorrow and Easter Sunday’s triumph.
Today, the Church is outwardly silent, but in the depths of the spiritual world, divine thunder resounds.
Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, in visions affirmed for private devotion, saw what no human eye could behold: when Christ gave up His spirit, His luminous soul, radiant and majestic, descended into the underworld—accompanied by angelic hosts.
He did not go as a prisoner but as a King.
To the Limbo of the Fathers, where the patriarchs awaited, He brought fulfillment. To Adam and Eve, He extended the hand of mercy. To Moses and David, He unveiled the mysteries they only foretold.
St. Peter tells us: “He went and preached to the spirits in prison” (1 Peter 3:19). This was not merely a proclamation—it was a rescue mission.
Even in hell, the devils were forced to bow. The demons, bound in chains, could not resist the glory of the Redeemer. As St. Ephrem wrote: “Death trembled when it saw the Light in Sheol.”

🔥 Segment Two: “The Abyss and the Accuser”
In the center of hell, Lucifer himself was cast down—chained and shrouded in thick black vapor. Sister Emmerich heard that he would be released again, 50 or 60 years before the year 2000. Looking at the 20th century—the rise of communism, global wars, moral collapse, and ecclesial crises—her vision rings with haunting accuracy.
She warns of demons let loose to chastise mankind.
It echoes Pope Leo XIII’s vision in 1884, which inspired the St. Michael Prayer. The smoke of Satan truly entered the sanctuary.
Yet, even in these terrifying revelations, Christ remains sovereign.
To the damned, Christ appears—not to save, but to be acknowledged. Even Judas Iscariot is confronted by the Light he rejected. All hell must confess Him, though without love, that acknowledgment is torment.
Segment Three: “The Consolation of Mary”
While the world sleeps in despair, the Virgin waits in faith.
At eleven o'clock that night, she can bear it no more. Clothed in sorrow, she walks alone through the city, retracing the Way of the Cross. She kneels, kisses the blood-stained stones, and prays.
And then—it happens.
Jesus appears to her, resplendent and glorified, yet marked with the wounds of love. Surrounded by angels and redeemed souls, He comforts her. “Mary, My Mother,” He says, and she is the first to behold His risen glory.
This is not folklore it is rooted in sacred tradition. St. Ignatius of Loyola includes it in his Spiritual Exercises. Pope John Paul II referenced it in his catechesis. Maximus the Confessor declared that Mary remained inseparable from the tomb.
Her vigil of sorrow becomes a beacon of faith.

🌿 Segment Four: “The Tree of Grace and Our Labor”
Emmerich sees Holy Saturday not as a pause, but as hidden work.
Christ’s descent, she says, planted a Tree of Grace. Every year, that tree bears fruit—souls are released from purgatory, hearts are converted, wounds are healed.
But she also delivers a stern warning:
“Woe to the slothful and faithless laborers… who let go to waste a grace that might have restored health to the sick, strength to the weak, or food to the hungry.”
Friends, how often do we neglect prayer, skip Mass, or ignore grace? The Church year is a divine garden each liturgy is a sacred vine. On this Holy Saturday, we are called to labor silently, but faithfully.
Segment Five: “Our Role in the Harrowing”
We are not observers of this mystery. We are participants.
As St. Paul writes: “We are buried with Him by baptism into death, that as Christ is risen, we may also walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
Let us ask ourselves:
• Have we worked in the garden of grace?
• Have we prayed for the souls in purgatory?
• Have we kept watch with the Virgin?
Holy Saturday is a day of hidden glory. It reminds us that God works most powerfully when all seems lost.
Let us labor silently. Let us await joyfully. Let us rise anew with Him.
Closing Prayer
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ, on this day of silence and stillness, You descended into the depths of death to bring life. You harrowed hell and shattered the gates of despair. Teach us to work in the garden of grace You have entrusted to us.
Grant us the faith of Mary, who waited in love and hope. Grant us the courage of the saints, who labored for souls even in darkness. May we never waste the graces You so freely offer.
Let us remain at the tomb, not in despair, but in expectation awaiting the dawn of Resurrection, with lamps lit and hearts ready to cry:
Alleluia! He is risen!
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
