24-Year-Old Dad Arrested for Leaving Kids at McDonald's While Job Hunting—Was It Too Much?

An Augusta man, Chris Louis, was arrested after leaving his three young children unattended at a McDonald's while he attended a job interview. The incident occurred on March 22 at the McDonald's located at 2902 Washington Road, where the children, ages 1, 6, and 10, were left alone in the restaurant's playground area.

Authorities were alerted when a concerned customer noticed the children alone. A deputy arrived to find the children unattended. Louis explained that he didn’t want to make his children walk back to their apartment, as he had walked them to the restaurant from home and didn’t own a vehicle. Louis was arrested and charged with deprivation of a minor, while the children's mother arrived shortly after to take them home.
