Voting got underway in Afghanistan’s parliamentary elections in Kandahar on October 27, a week after the rest of the country went to the polls. The elections were marred by repeated delays, reports of poor organization, and violence. There were reports of long lines outside polling stations in the province where, on October 18, two senior Afghan officials were killed following a gun attack at a compound in Kandahar. The national elections were delayed for years, most recently from a July 2018 date into October. Credit: Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty via Storyful
