The consul-general returned to Saudi Arabia on October 16, according to Turkish media. On October 17, Middle East Eye reported that a Turkish source listened to a recording of Khashoggi’s last moments. They also reported an abridged recording was given to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, which has not released it. Khashoggi was last seen entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2.
