In this video talk to my local coin dealer about the beginning of the end of cash as we know it. The US is starting to phase out the penny with the stopping of production of all 1 cent coins. Once the pennies are no longer being produced will they be eliminated from circulation all together? In Canada they tried to round up all of the pennies and melt them. Will it become legal to melt pennies in America? If it does become legal to melt pennies then it will be profitable to melt the pre 1982 pennies which are made of 95% copper and are worth about 2.7 cents today. Once the penny is gone will they try to eliminate the nickel next? Where is all of this going? Does this path eventually lead to a central bank digital currency? once a CBDC is in place all transactions will be traced and all privacy will be gone forever.
