Families Evacuated in Philippines After Marikina River Water Level Becomes Critical

Five thousand people left their homes due to high-water levels reached by the Marikina river in metropolitan Manila, Philippines, on Saturday, August 11. The Marikina Public Information Office informed the public the water had reached its worst stage at 9:13 local time, the Philippines news site Rappler reported. A red-warning level for the Manila metropolitan area was issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration.
