Footage of a carriage horse near Central Park in New York City has gone viral for all the wrong reasons, after it was shared online on August 6. Animal rights organization NYCLASS shared the video to its Instagram account, which shows the horse — who appears to be overheated — breathing abnormally and in obvious distress. “There was a heat advisory in effect yesterday issued by the National Weather Service —it’s a DISGRACE that city agencies overseeing the horses allowed drivers to force horses to work in dangerous heat for hours,” NYCLASS wrote alongside the video. The post also urges New York residents to complain to their local councilman about the poor conditions the horses are made to work in. A version of the video shared to Facebook had over 6,000 views at the time of writing. Credit: NYCLASS via Storyful
