"In the fourth installment of the series, ""Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,"" Harry is now fourteen years old and enters his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This year, Hogwarts hosts the prestigious Triwizard Tournament, a competition between three wizarding schools: Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang.
Despite being underage, Harry finds himself unexpectedly chosen as the fourth champion, alongside Cedric Diggory from Hogwarts, Fleur Delacour from Beauxbatons, and Viktor Krum from Durmstrang. The selection is controversial as the tournament is known to be extremely dangerous and typically reserved for older students.
As Harry navigates the challenges of the Triwizard Tournament, he faces various tasks that test his magical abilities, intelligence, and courage. The tasks include retrieving a golden egg from a dragon, rescuing someone dear to him from the depths of the Black Lake, and navigating a treacherous maze.
While participating in the tournament, Harry also experiences recurring nightmares and visions that involve Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. He learns about Voldemort's return to power and the importance of the Dark Mark, a sign used by his followers.
Amidst the tournament, Harry develops a complicated relationship with Cho Chang, a fellow student. He also deals with the challenges of growing up, navigating friendships, and the excitement and anxiety that come with the Triwizard Tournament.
During the final task of the tournament, Harry and Cedric reach the Triwizard Cup together. However, the Cup turns out to be a Portkey that transports them to a graveyard where Voldemort is waiting. Cedric is tragically killed by Peter Pettigrew, and Voldemort uses Harry's blood to regain his full form.
In a chilling encounter, Harry narrowly escapes Voldemort's clutches and returns to Hogwarts with Cedric's body. He reveals the truth about Voldemort's return to Dumbledore and the Ministry of Magic, but many refuse to believe him.
""Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"" marks a turning point in the series, as the threat of Lord Voldemort becomes more apparent and his return is confirmed. The book delves into darker themes, explores the complexities of friendship and loyalty, and sets the stage for the looming battle between Harry and Voldemort."
