Fire On Chobham Common
Dramatic footage captures the moment flames ripped through bushes in Chobham Common, Surrey. The fire started at around 7.30pm in the undergrowth and quickly spread to more than 30 hectares of vegetation which was still dry from weeks of hot weather across the country. Thirty-two firefighters from different stations around the country arrived on the scene to battle the inferno. They were helped by the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and Thames Valley Fire Control Service. Five fire engines attended and spent more then four hours battling the flames before the emergency services left at around 12:45am. They were due to return this morning to investigate.
