Living with us in mega-cities or in small villages, on the sea, in the desert and even in space or on the North Pole, they march along, leaving 4 paw traces, our friends - dogs. They are glorified in legends since days ancient as being more faithful than people and remain close in perilous times. There are volumes of poems inspired by and devoted to them, monuments erected in their remembrance and the never-fading memories we cherish of growing up with our first dog.

In ancient times, dogs helped our ancestors hunt for mammoth and toothed tigers. Dog teams bare the credit naturalists, geologists and other adventure-seekers ventured into expeditions and conquest of the Arctic and Antarctic. In the world of today, many dogs live a comfortable couch life next to their beloved owners and we are grateful to them for the company.

Yet, some dogs are not only sweet pets for company. They are hard-working canines which, like in the good old days help man overcome the obstacles of everyday life and win over nature. LIke this little pup on the video (of course we are exaggerating, its even more fun that way!)

An adorable miniature dachshund has become part of the team at his local pet shop after being given the prestigious title of “store meeter and greeter”. One-year-old Frankie was bought to the shop by the owner, Judy Laine, who also works at the store in Broadmeadows, Nottingham, from the tender age of nine-weeks-old.

The cute pooch with stubby short legs professionally assists with the day to day operations of the shop as well as greeting customers and what is more important, unlike regular employees who can take a sick leave – this dedicated canine has never missed a day on the job since the day he started working!

The 42-year-old owner, Judy, said: "Frankie has full run of the shop when we are closed and we usually do early shifts, so most days we start work at 6.00 or 7.00 am. Whilst I’m cleaning out the pets at work, Frankie wanders around, plays chase with any colleagues he can distract, pinches loose biscuits from under the pick and mix biscuit bar. He also runs off with cardboard boxes when we have deliveries and generally has great fun."

He is such a model employee that the company issued a special uniform just for him! And a hard-working dog needs his rest so there is even a bed for him laid under the till.

Judy said: "Our colleagues absolutely adore him. "He’s such fun to have around with his sense of humor, even at 6 am in the morning. He makes us all laugh so much with his antics. "Pets at home head office love him and his uniform. They are starting to use him on their Instagram. That has given him a hashtag too - #PAHFrankie. "They want to use him as a product tester and have him 'review' products in the future. "He is literally the most perfect little dog ever."

Dogs are absolutely amazing. They remind us of smaller and hairier versions of humans that love nothing more than to have fun. It seems like we can never get enough of the puppy awesomeness. They keep us at our toes with their antics and melt us into puddles of mush when they turn on their charm. They are like our furry offspring that likes to wake us up early in the morning to go potty but we don’t mind because they are adorable
