People across Sydney, New South Wales, reported seeing a meteor streak across the night sky on Saturday, August 4. Paul Evans captured the moment on his dash camera while driving in Naremburn. One Twitter user reported the sighting was “mind blowing,” describing the meteor as a “fireball with an elongated tail, appearing out of thin air, moving across the skyline at a stately pace and then disappearing into nothing.” Experts said the meteor is likely to have fallen around Cooma, south of Canberra, news.com.au reported.
