Portland police officers in riot gear marched on and threw flash bangs at protesters and attendees of the “Gibson for Senate Freedom March,” a Patriot Prayer event on August 4. Portland Police said those with the appropriate licenses would be allowed to carry handguns but that rifles or other “long-guns” were prohibited. Joey Gibson, the founder of Patriot Prayer who is planning a run for US Senate, streamed via Facebook Live on July 30 saying there have been guns at every Patriot Prayer rally but they would only be used in self-defense.
