Counter-protesters dressed in colorful clothes rallied against a far-right Patriot Prayer rally called the “Gibson for Senate Freedom March” in Portland, Oregon, on August 4. Portland Police said those with the appropriate licenses would be allowed to carry handguns to the event, but that rifles or other “long-guns” were prohibited. Joey Gibson, the founder of Patriot Prayer who is aiming to run for the US Senate, streamed via Facebook Live on July 30, saying there had been guns at every Patriot Prayer rally but that they would only be used in self-defense.
