A small tornado downed power lines and at least 50 trees in the neighborhoods of College Point, Whitestone, and Malba in Queens, New York, on the evening of August 2, the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed. The EF-0 tornado was about 100 yards wide, touched down near Saint Fidelis Catholic Church in College Point, and traveled for about three quarters of a mile to Malba, where it dissipated, the NWS said. No injuries were reported. Footage shot by Christian Kiladitis shortly after the tornado passed shows sparks flying from a power line near the corner of 15th Avenue and 127th Street in College Point.
