This is the heartwarming story of a former dancing bear who was rescued from a Nepal zoo. A 19-year-old bear that was once used as a performance animal in Nepal was rescued from the poorly-equipped zoo thanks to the efforts of animal charities determined to save him.

Indian charity Wildlife SOS took charge in the mission to rescue Rangila from a zoo in Kathmandu, Nepal, and transported him to its Agra Bear Rescue Facility in India, which is partly funded by International Animal Rescue. A previous effort to save Rangila and another bear called Sridevi had failed, and Sridevi died before a second attempt could be made. Fortunately, this time the mission was a real success! Great joy, guys!

However, in order to transport the bear they first had to check the animal. After the medical examination of the bear it was confirmed that he was fit to travel. Immediately after that, a transport was arranged and this dancing star was rescued. We hope that he is now treated well and has a better life!

“The mistreatment and neglect both animals had suffered as dancing bears had taken a heavy toll on their physical and mental health,” said International Animal Rescue CEO Alan Knight in a press release shared to media. “When they were first rescued off the streets of Nepal, they were due to come straight to the Agra Bear Rescue Facility which is part-funded by IAR and managed by our partners Wildlife SOS. However, instead, somehow the bears ended up languishing in a zoo which is known for its poor standards of animal welfare.”

Geeta Seshamani, the co-founder and secretary of Wildlife SOS, also commented on the rescue and the plans for Rangila’s future: "He will have a large forested enclosure with a pool, lots of trees to climb and other bears to play with. The most important thing is that he will be able to display natural behavior like a sloth bear should.”

We haven’t met a kid who doesn’t love going to the ZOO. All those animals, some of them even exotic, are so exciting to see so close and watch them do what they do in their own time. ZOOs are educational in so many ways; they teach us about the importance of the various species that live on this planet, their role in the ecosystem, how they live, feed and breed their young. Kids always have a blast when they get to experience these animals up close and completely safe, but it seems that one bunch of kids were given a bit more than they bargained for.

In another video, one family from Grand Rapids, Michigan, took their kids to see the grizzlies at the ZOO. The bears were living the bear life, lounging in the sun on the rocks and having as snack., Then, one of the big boys decided to come down and greet the spectators at the glass viewing area, which made the kids go nuts! A huge grizzly bear, so close you could touch it, if it weren’t for the couple of inches of glass between you.

Then the bear decided to teach these innocent kids a lesson they will definitely never forget; a lesson in bowel movement. Without a second thought, the bear turns around, flashes his rear end towards the kids and begins releasing the goods. Ew!
Isn’t nature just grand?
