Villager Buys An Old Boeing 747 And Turns It Into A Local Attraction
Locals were baffled when this enormous Boeing 747 suddenly appeared in a muddy field near their homes. The Queen of the Skies appeared to have landed in the remote patch of grass in Chai Nat, Thailand when it showed up overnight earlier this month. Villagers flocked to take pictures of the Jumbo Jet with a distinctive purple and gold Thai Airways livery which had been stripped of its GEnx engines. Apart from the cargo hold, all of the doors to the plane were shut making it impossible to climb inside and investigate further.
Villager Prae Anan, 40, said: ''At first, I thought it might have run out of fuel and stopped in the field. I've never even been on an airplane so it was a big surprise. I could not believe it.''
Residents flocked to the site when the plane first appeared before landowner Somchai Phukieow revealed that he had bought the decommissioned aircraft at a local auction. Somchai said he had the plane delivered by lorry before it was lifted by a crane and lowered onto concrete blocks to prevent it from sinking into the wet ground.
He said: ''I bought the plane at an auction in the city. The engine and all the computer parts were taken out already. I would like to make a small attraction here, with a motor-cross track and a football pitch, so people can look inside the plane and watch the sports from inside, too.“
Somchai allowed visitors to photograph the plane from a distance but has prevented anybody from climbing inside:
“A lot of children and families, came to look because it is very unusual to have a plane in the field. A lot of children have never seen a plane before. They want to go and look inside but they cannot, we have not made it safe yet. They can look at it from the outside. A lot of children are interested in this. everybody has been coming to take a picture, many people come in the afternoons when school finishes.”
Millions of tourists around the world travel in search of spectacular attractions. And what are these places that have such a charm and meaning so people could flock to them in thousands? Are attractions only ancient buildings and sculptures, or, perhaps, this definition applies to streets, entire cities, and even bizarre things?
In fact, the concept is quite broad. The attraction is not only ancient buildings and monuments but also other objects, places, things that are worthy of public attention, like the plane in the video at the top of the page. These objects can be ancient and have historical value, and can be completely new, but popular because of artistic value or originality in performance. In general, the attraction is famous or valuable objects. The concept includes zoos, nature reserves, national and natural parks, galleries, gardens, museums, architecture, sculptures, monuments, even fairs, and festivals. Recently, the number of places of interest has also been increased by reservations - places where certain ethnic groups and nationalities live.
