San Francisco was shrouded in a yellowish fog on July 1 as smoke and ash from fires in nearby counties crossed the Bay Area. A poor air quality warning was put in place as residents with breathing issues, children and the elderly were advised not to exert themselves. Cal Fire said on July 1 that a fire covering 32,500 acres in Lake County, Napa County and Yolo County was 2 percent contained. A number of mandatory evacuations were in place.
