San Francisco residents were warned of poor air quality on July 1, as smoke and ash from fires in Lake and Yolo counties crossed the Bay Area. People with breathing issues, children and the elderly were told to avoid exerting themselves. Cal Fire said on July 1 that a fire covering 32,500 acres in Lake County, Napa County and Yolo County was 2 percent contained. A number of mandatory evacuations were in place.
