84-Year-Old Rabbi Arrested at Philadelphia Anti-ICE Protest

An 84-year-old rabbi was among six people reportedl arrested during a protest against Immigration and Custom Enforcement in Philadelphia on Friday, June 29. Video from Councilwoman Helen Gym shows the moment Rabbi Arthur Waskow was gently placed in handcuffs, helped from a seat and then lead to a police van. He and five others were issued citations for failure to disperse and were later released, Philly.com reported. They were accused of blocking the door to an ICE facility. This wasn’t the first arrest for Waskow, who founded the Jewish Renewal movement and has been a political activist since the 1960s.
