In Brampton, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces his government has reached an agreement with Ontario to expand the National School Food Program to the province. He is joined by Kamal Khera (MP, Brampton West), Heidi Yetman (president, Canadian Teachers' Federation), Jenna Sudds (federal minister of families, children and social development), Michael Parsa (Ontario minister of children, community and social services) Jill Dunlop (Ontario minister of education) and Rashmi Swarup (director of education, Peel District School Board). The agreement comes with an initial federal investment of $108.5-million and will deliver meals to 160,000 more children across the province. Ontario is the third province to sign on to the deal after Newfoundland and Manitoba.
Responding to questions from reporters, the prime minister comments on the way forward for ending the ongoing debate over a Conservative privilege motion that continues to stall work in the House of Commons. The prime minister also takes questions on allegations of a link between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and criminal activity in Canada.
