Fake Jussie Smollett Hate Crime Conviction Overturned Illinois Court Rules

The Illinois Supreme Court overturned Jussie Smollett’s conviction for faking a hate crime himself, not because he didn’t do that, but because of procedural violations from the prosecutor.

In the ruling the court determined that since Jussie Smollett agreed to a non-prosecution agreement with the Chicago District Attorney the city didn’t have a right to appoint a special counsel to investigate Jussie Smollett’s crime. This charge being overturned only means he doesn’t have to face the consequences of his actions, but those were only minor in the grand scheme of things. His reputation is still irreversibly damaged due to his past and continued lies. Plus, the name “Jussie Smollett” will forever be associated with fake hate crimes.
